Facial hair/beards? Yes? No? Why?

Here’s a fun topic for me.
It applies to men mostly, but women have it too.
Facial hair, do you like it, or hate it?
Should your men be clean shaven, and your women without any?
Facial hair, for men, anyway, seems to come in and out of fashion.
Some women will have a fine covering, or a few strings on the lip and chin. Some have a good amount on the upper lip.
Sometimes they have long sideburns for whatever reason.
This is going to sound strange, but many times, they will appear to have no hair, but it is detectable if you touch the face with your tongue. Like while kissing them, or whatever.
Some women want their men with full beards and mustaches, even when it’s not fashionable, and some say it is scratchy, and whatever, so clean shaven please.
Some buys will shave the upper lip, but not the chin. Makes them more kissable, I suppose.
Myself, I go back and forth.
Mainly during the winter, I like a full beard, but trimmed, and sometimes, that is sometimes, I’ll be clean shaven in the summer.
Mostly, I have the upper lip and chin fur, but am clean shaven on the cheeks and under the chin or base of the neck. Sort of shaped, I’d say.
If I could, I’d love to grow me one of these middle Eastern dude beards, like Osama, or sheiks wear.
In the 1800’s and I guess even now, pirates wore them.
In a fight to insult a young sailor, they’d say “grow a beard child!”
Them bad boys are right down to the middle of the chest sometimes.
Alas, I am only a furry guy, no length.
Laughing.
So, okay, girls and guys, what do we say?

To each their own.

Post 3 by forereel (Just posting.) on Sunday, 06-Aug-2017 10:30:59

True, but some folks want you to abide by there own.
I want to know why for or against?
I've even had relatives suggest I shave, dates suggest I grow a beard, and well, you understand.
I've read in magazines, such as Playboy, about the trend of shaving in the summer, but growing a beard during the winter.
In history, it seems to come and go in and out of fashion.

I was chatting in publics, and one of our Zone members who's currently attending law school says he can't have facial hair. He says it is against his schools rules, because you can't wear a beard in court now.
I've seen laywers plenty with beards and such, so that was interesting to me.
I'vew not been in court recently, and avoid it like the plague, so that was surprising to me.
To each his own? I guess not.
Seems you pay to go to law school, so how can they levy such a ruling?

Post 5 by Blues_fan (Zone BBS Addict) on Sunday, 06-Aug-2017 12:52:09

I keep a neatly trimmed goatee all year long. As for the no facial hair in court rooms; I think I'd have to call BS on that. Over the years I've been in plenty of them and I have seen facial hair on plenty lawyers and court officers.

Post 6 by forereel (Just posting.) on Sunday, 06-Aug-2017 13:39:48

Right, and that was surprising to me when he said that. I figured it was some new ruling, but I couldn't understand why.
We're not like England were the lawyers have to wear specific stuff.

For myself I can't stand facial hair. Then again that may be partly because mine doesn't grow evenly, meaning I probably look more like a hobo than anything else. I also can't stand the feel of it since it usually itches like crazy.

Post 8 by Imprecator (The Zone's Spelling Nazi) on Sunday, 20-Aug-2017 12:34:44

I shave completely every day. Facial hair on women scarifies me.

For me, it's whatever my guy likes. IF he wants facial hair, a beard or mustache, fine by me, just keep it trimmed and neat is all I'd ask. It can be fun to run fingers through. If he'd rather be clean-shaven, that's great, too. Mark prefers to be clean-shaven, but I have dated guys in the past who have had beards or mustaches, and it's not a problem. as a woman, I absolutely would not want facial hair for myself! Yuck! Not sure why any woman would, but again, if that's what she wanted, more power to her, even if I don't get it. Her face, her call.

Post 11 by forereel (Just posting.) on Monday, 21-Aug-2017 23:30:43

I don't think they want it.
It grows naturally for varying reasons.
Sure, most remove it, but like men, in the morning, or on relaxed days, she'll have a bit.
Sometimes it will just be a small amount on her upper lip, or a few strans on the chin.
Some women have a really light covering on the cheeks, and it can't be felt with your fingers as I've posted.
I'm just wondering if some men would totally have issues with nature?
Thanks for all your post.

So what I understand re: why some women don't like facial hair, just my observations:
1. It's scratchy. Fellow men, we all know you comb it soft, use even conditioner on it, and all the rest, but especially the older we get, it's usually just plain wiry and scratchy.

2. Facial expressions: For some of us, myself included, what facial expressions we do have are hidden, my Wife said masked, by a beard. Not a jungle beard either, but one that is taken care of too.

3. Recognition: Even kids will be startled and not recognize you if they went from seeing you without a beard and then with one. Opposite too: Shave it all off and it looks like "a different man" coming out of the bathroom.

Again, just my observations. I grew one last summer for the first time in a couple decades. I decided not to keep it, but it was worth seeing it grow straight instead of curly like when I was in my early 20s.

Anyhow, that's just what I've observed over the years. But what's interesting is now beard fashion sites -- yes they have those now -- say many women like the look of 5-day-old stubble. Maybe they like the look, but not the feel? I don't know.

Post 13 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 22-Aug-2017 14:42:36

So, if I grow my beard, I can come out of the bathroom a different man?
Wonder if that be exciting to some women?
I mean, for a month, you could even act different, then shave and change your personality?
Okay, just had too.
Laughing.
Thanks for your post.

Too funny above. Pretending to be a different person so on.

I like my guys clean shaven . I can understand or tolorate a day or two but no face bush. No face fur at all.

I never cared for it and here is a story that cealed the deal.

A guy a dated a while back has a brother who has a full out covering of hair on his face. I am told he looks great and maybe he does.

But I did not think it was great to learn how when he eats, bits of food drops in his hair and then left and later picked out by his wife and promply consumed by her.

Yep. So grose.

i have messed about with bierds and things, being totally blind, i go for the all over single length. first i grew one just to see how it would be, after being a devottee of the clean shave, and having the world's supply of shaving gear, still have that, but have invested in an accessible beard trimmer, took me some time to find one that was good enough for the wire on my face *grin* some of them, such as certain battery operated brands which said they would keep you trimmed, just didn't for me, unless it was very short, so i went out looking for a mean bastard of a machine. nearly went commercial with mine, but fortunately found one on the consumer market with enough stability in the comb to remain secure and grunt to be usable and safe and accessibility to be usable by one who can't see. now i can clip in confidence, anything from a really long beard, where fifteen mil is the maximum length my trimmer will allow, to a one, or stubble if i want to take the guard off and really give it some. Then of course, any shorter and you're back to the clean shave, but give my beard a week, and boom it's back with avengence. so there's my take on it.

I like having facial but the worst my vision gets, the hard it is to maintain.
Now and days I just need up clean shaven. The women I date seems to like
me clean shaven, so I guess it's a plus. I do miss having a nice manicured
beard though.

My preference is for some facial hair such as a goatee. I don't care for the full beard look.

Post 19 by boots and denim (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 20-Oct-2017 17:43:41

I've recently gone back to having a short groomed beard. I've gotten a few
compliments on it, so I guess it's working for me. I swore off facial hair last
winter because I got tired of messing it up on bad eye days. This time around
i'm getting it lined up at the local barber shop. It's nice because they fade it
into my shaved head. Not too pricey either.

How do you guys like your ladies down their? Clean shaven or a little bierd.

This is something that crosses my mind when thinking of this.

I want my mens face the way they want my lady parts...

Clean'

Post 21 by boots and denim (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 21-Oct-2017 23:54:55

Personally, I prefer a trimmed bush. I like my women to be women. Clean
shaven isn't bad, just prefer a little something something.

Post 22 by Liquid tension experiment (move over school!) on Monday, 23-Oct-2017 13:32:34

now lets be realistic. For me, and the way I have to shave, it could take me a half hour to do so, and I just don't like being in the shower that long. So I shave enough to keep me looking fresh, but expect me to have stubble on my face. I just don't want to spend that much time when I could be doing other things.

Post 23 by Imprecator (The Zone's Spelling Nazi) on Monday, 23-Oct-2017 14:35:48

Takes me a while to shave as well cuz I'm a perfectionist about it.

Post 24 by forereel (Just posting.) on Monday, 23-Oct-2017 19:18:35

I like women to be natural. They can trim, but I don't require them clean shaven.
I think in this case hair has a reason for being.
Also seems to get yourself completely smooth would cause you to be sensitive after a while.
Clean is fun, sure, but not all the time.
As to shaving in the shower, that waist to much water. A sink with a bit of hot water a face towel, and some music, and you've got it going on.
I often time wonder why guys insist on waisting all that water just running while they shave?
If you go to a barber, they use a bowl, so why not at home?

I have an epilator and some times do a touch up with waxing, so not so necessary to shave every day and I prefer waxing and epilating over shaving.

For those who do not know. An epilator is an electric tool like a raiser but it is an electric tweezer that pulls out many hairs at once. It pulls them out by the roots and provides the same effects as waxing but without the mess. It does take longer but is cheeper than going to get waxed regularly. Also you can epilate at home every few days verses waxing is every 5 weeks for lady parts, 2 weeks for under arms and about the same for legs. So this means you are still harry half the time to allow enough of a length to grow out for the wax to grab hold of. Epelating requires a lot less length and over all more cleaner verses waxing.

I epilate what I can manage in pain since it is pulling out hairs by the roots and then shave the rest down with the electric attachment. This is done regularly and rarely have issues. A few spots are better delt with in a quick mannor that waxing can provide.

I use a bevel if you have ever heard of them. and anyone who has used the system knows it is never a simple shave.

Post 28 by Nicky (And I aprove this message.) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2017 12:40:52

Never heard of one. How does it work?

Post 29 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2017 12:53:07

On the converse side, what do women think of guys who shave the dick and balls?
Just curious.

Post 30 by Liquid tension experiment (move over school!) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2017 13:37:50

well, its a safety razer. I have to use this oil for lubricant, then the shaving jell that you have to apply with a puff to pull up the hair from your face, then you shave, then lotion. its for people who suffer from in grown hair a lot or if its mad curly

Post 31 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2017 15:27:54

Ouch.
This epilate sounds like it hurts.
Laughing.
Next, when you are allowing the hairs to grow back enough so you can snatch them again, aren't they brissly?
This isn't about sex, but if we're speaking of lady parts, I find some soft hair that is trimmed is far better on my lips, and man parts then brissles.
If she's not going to be completely smooth, let her have hair, I say.
Laughing.
Thanks for these post.
Interesting indeed.
I never knew about epilate ora bevel , so I've learned something.

Post 32 by Liquid tension experiment (move over school!) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2017 15:51:20

I don't mind hair, as I am not smooth down there, and don't really want to go through the trouble. I don't want to have prickly balls and have to deal with my ass itching all the time. screw that.

Post 33 by Nicky (And I aprove this message.) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2017 16:25:16

No. It is like waxing. New hair grows in so they are soft.
Also your hair grows in 3 different oh, whats it called, waves or something.

So 30% of your hair grows in and the others are waiting their turn. So you get only 30% of your hair coming back at once.
Cycles.

It is called cycles.

So when you wax or epilate, only 30% of the hair comes back at first then a few days or week later the next 30% and finally the last 30%.
There is a way to get them all on the same cycle but anyways...

So you remove the hair and there is no stubble because there is not a blunt cut of the hairs. What comes back in is new hair that is tapered and small/soft.

Post 34 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2017 19:18:03

I have been told waxing hurts.
Ripping hair out just seems, well, painful.
You do this once a 30% hair, and well.
Ouch.
I can see gritting teeth and counting to 5, no 7, no 15, well.
Laughing.

Thanks for all your post.

Post 35 by season (the invisible soul) on Wednesday, 25-Oct-2017 0:52:39

apparently, from what i got told by women that wax, it does not hurt, if you do it properly. i suppose, you need to be hairy enough to able to wax?

Post 36 by forereel (Just posting.) on Wednesday, 25-Oct-2017 13:16:20

Right, so man or woman, if you've got to grow enough hair for it to be snatched, between times you've got hair.
What do you do, say, nope, I can't see you until I am at 30% and get waxed?
What if you are a slow grower?
You've got to be dirty until you get 30% and the time, or funds, or whatever.
Laughing.
Thanks for these post.
Interesting indeed.
